3 Hour New York SAFE: CE Update for New York MLO’s (#15708)

The NMLSR has granted approval for this Online Self Study (OSS) 3 Hour SAFE New York Continuing Education Course. It provides a CE Update for New York MLO’s and is customized to meet New York’s three (3) hour-specific education requirement. This 3 Hour New York OSS course incorporates timed modules, enabling students to progress at their own pace. Upon enrollment, students will receive a confirmation email containing login details and necessary technology requirements

NY Required CE

Licensees in New York must complete a minimum of eleven (11) hours of certified continuing education (CE) in order to renew licenses. The education must include at least:

• Three (3) hours dedicated to Federal law and regulations.
• Two (2) hours focused on ethics, covering instruction on fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending standards.
• Two (2) hours allocated for training on lending standards in the nontraditional mortgage product marketplace.
• One (1) hours of additional undefined education.
• Three (3) hours of NY-specific education.

3 Hour NY SAFE OSS Course Content

The course fulfills New York’s 3-hour requirement for New York mortgage law instruction. It covers provisions of the New York Banking Law, MLO Standards and Prohibited Conduct, as well as New York Fair Lending Law and New York High-Cost Home Loan Law. This is a newly introduced 3-hour New York SAFE CE course. This allows both new and existing clients to complete it without violating the NMLS’ successive year rule.
