1 Hour SAFE: Elder Abuse in the Mortgage Industry (#15828)

The NMLSR has approved this Online Self Study (OSS) 1 Hour SAFE Elder Abuse in the Mortgage Industry Continuing Education Course. This course is geared towards understanding elder abuse in the mortgage industry. It satisfies one hour of elective requirements within the mandatory 8 hours of annual SAFE education. Featuring timed modules, this 1 Hour SAFE OSS course enables students to progress at their own pace. Upon enrollment, students receive a confirmation email with login details and necessary technology requirements.

SAFE Required CE

Licensees must complete a minimum of eight (8) hours of certified continuing education (CE) in order to renew licenses. The education must include at least:

• Three (3) hours dedicated to Federal law and regulations.
• Two (2) hours focused on ethics, covering instruction on fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending standards.
• Two (2) hours allocated for training on lending standards in the nontraditional mortgage product marketplace.
• One (1) hour of elective education.

1 Hour SAFE OSS Course Content

The course fulfills 1-hour of required elective education. The course will  address elder abuse in the mortgage industry with a focus on financial abuse, predatory lending, reverse mortgage loans, and advertising. This recently introduced 1-hour SAFE CE course allows new and existing clients to complete it without violating the NMLS’ successive year rule.
